Administrative / biographical background:

The chapel was built in Price Street by the Wesleyan Methodists in 1830, enlarged in 1844 and again in 1909, closed in 1960, and subsequently was sold and demolished. The Day Schools associated with the chapel were built in Beckwith Street in 1857 and closed in 1909.
